Mandu – The Ancient City

Mandu, a small ancient town is most famously known for a fort Jahaz Mahal that was built by Baaz Bahadur in the memory of his queen Rani Roopmati. While the town is famous for its architectural gems that serve as India’s finest examples of Afghan architecture, it was the other side of the town that caught my attention - the tribal community. Morning strolls on the streets introduced me to the people, their beautifully painted houses, children playing together, families sitting on the porch, and the warmth on their faces, shining in the crisp autumn sunlight.
