Covid 19 - Far from School (ongoing)
In India, Millions of children are not able to afford even a basic education due to various factors contributing to it, the majority of being illiteracy in the adults of the family and economic conditions of the households.
In March 2020, when the country went into lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the situation worsened furthermore for these children. While the private and government schools shifted to online classes, many of the children coming from low-income backgrounds could not cope up with the change as many could not afford the means to online education. However, education is the basic right for every child and no child should be deprived of it. With this belief, a few people running the street-side makeshift schools came to the rescue of these children during these hard times.
This project intends to highlight the issues the children are facing in their education due to Covid-19, the lack of basic facilities as well as due to economic conditions. It also chronicles the lives of people who despite hardships are making a difference and the impact of their makeshift schools on the lives of these children.
